Drawing is an intimate way to learn about a subject. I'm teaching myself how to draw, I suppose, but mainly I'm teaching myself how to see.

As I drew this rose hip in my sketchbook in the park, someone walked by and said, "Is that a radish?"
I think this rose hip looks a bit like a dancer wearing a crown, but I guess I can see a radish, too.

It does look like a dancer--but many flowers do, especially if you turn them upside down. I took some pictures of flowers that way once because I thought the petals looked like swishing skirts.

ANything that reminds me of dancing is good.
Yes, flowers remind me of dancers all the time. Today I saw some frilly flowers that looked like skirts for tiny dancers. Such a girly thought.
