August 3. Outside, on a day so perfect I want it to last forever.
I've drawn a few Asiatic day flowers this season, but the sketches don't turn out the way I want them to. This drawing is from today. Asiatic day flowers are one of my favorite wild flowers.
They are called day flowers for good reason. The blooms only last a day, and maybe not even a full day. The flowers fade after being picked, and the leaves curl quickly.
But you can revive the leaves under cold water. Go ahead and pick a bunch of leaves for dinner. Their taste is mild, and you can either eat them raw or cook them like any other green.
