August 1. Forest in Manhattan.

I thought I would get more drawing done this week, but these were the only two. Still working on using color, slowing learning a thing or two through experimentation.

While sketching in the park I encountered someone who loves to draw trees as much as I do. I asked him for pointers on how to get the colors - the yellows and greens and browns - of the plane tree on the paper. "Keep working on it," was his answer.

"Keep working on it" is a mantra along the same lines as "Never leave a birdie putt short," don't you think, SBW?

How very Zen(ish).

Yes. It's sort of like the writing/drawing/life advice I recently received of "Think but don't think."

I'm working on it.
