Here's another water lily from the aquatic garden at Wave Hill last week. As I sat at the edge of the pond, koi swam by, dragonflies flitted about, visitors strolled around, and when I mentioned to the gardener it was a hot day, he said, "not really."
I know I say this about other flowers, too, but water lilies are truly one of my favorite flowers. I just love them. As with other flowers, they remind me of my childhood. I remember bright yellow lilies on the lake, and pure white ones, too. They weren't as exotic as the lilies at the garden, but they were pretty. Sometimes we would pull one up and keep it in a bowl of water on the table.
