June 27: chicory, burdock, and part of an unidentfied white flower.

The chicory fades quickly after picking, and I usually leave the plant alone rather than plucking the purple flowers.

Because it wilts, chicory doesn't make a good bouquet, but it does make a good coffee substitute. I used to drink it when I was too healthy to drink java made from coffee beans. I'm back on the strong stuff now, though. I sometimes stop at the cafe for a cup of Ethopian brew and carry it with me as I look for the chicory flowers on my walk.

I like burdock burs. They look like wild party decorations to me - especially when the flower blooms on the top of the bur. The one I drew here was still new and green, too young for a wild party.

Sauted burdock root is tasty and burdock tea is a drink I've learned to like. I heard it's supposed to be good for the skin, and the tea tastes like that claim would be true.

I don't know what the white flower is, but when I began to draw it, I saw that the pure white flower had yellow, pink, and blue in it. Not pure white at all.

You are one interesting lady. I can absolutely see that drawing would make you really "see" things -- sort of like photography, but even more intimate. Congratulations on your new "baby" blog.

Hey Addhumorandfaith, as I fumble around with my camera, I tend to concentrate on subject and composition. Perhaps once I learn more about photography, I'll expand my thinking and skills and be more sophisticated. It's super fun to learn, and I don't mind at all being a novice with photography. Same with drawing. And tennis.
