July 22. Neglected community garden.

I liked these yellow flowers in one of many overgrown sections of the community garden and I picked some to draw. Someone passing by said, "Those are yarrow."

I admit that I don't know yarrow from a yardstick, but I'm not convinced by the identification. I'm leaning toward tansy myself. After starting this blog only a short time ago, I've been amazed at how the answers to my questions arrive. I know I'll learn the right name of this plant soon enough. In the mean time, I know it droops soon after picking it.

It may droop soon after being picked, but this one will stay forever here in cyberspace and be seen by others who can't even walk by it.
